About

Lou Jasikoff, a stalwart advocate for transparency and reform, founded The Independent Gazette and Sanity Check over two decades ago, leveraging a blend of investigative journalism and broadcast media to challenge the status quo in Pennsylvania and beyond. Under his leadership, The Independent Gazette emerged as a pioneering investigative newspaper, notably among the first to uncover the infamous Kids for Cash scandal in PA, marking a significant milestone in the realm of investigative journalism.
Expanding its reach, Sanity Check transitioned from a radio program to a widely recognized podcast, dissecting the intricacies of PA politics, alongside a broad spectrum of global political phenomena, with an unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth.
Throughout his adult life, Lou has been deeply entrenched in the political landscape, advocating for justice, equity, and reform. His endeavors culminated to focusing on championing for transparency in the Pennsylvania courts, advocating for free and equal elections accessible to all political parties, and pushing for comprehensive immigration reform.
Joining forces with Mike Lacey, a lifelong Pennsylvania pharmacist, and a team of dedicated professionals, stands at the forefront of societal transformation, driving efforts to ensure a fair, transparent, and equitable system for all.

How Justice Watch Today Started

The Independent Gazette, a pioneering force in the realm of investigative journalism cases within Pennsylvania, has always set a precedent for relentless advocacy for justice.

Three impactful letters authored by the Independent Gazette's leading figures, Lou Jasikoff and Mike Lacey, alongside their committed team sent to the following:

Response to the Immigration Crisis Letter

Chrissy Houlahan PA State Representative
John Fetterman United States Senator
The first letter from the Gazette team called for increased transparency and the introduction of cameras in courts, aiming to lift the veil on judicial proceedings. The second letter advocated for free and equal elections, urging primary election reforms that would include all registered Pennsylvania voters. The two letters were sent to all Pennsylvania state legislators.

The third letter, directed towards Pennsylvania's federal representatives—17 Congress members and 2 U.S. Senators—sought broader support for immigration reform.

The Event on April 27th, from 11 to 5 at the Scranton Cultural Center, was born from these three letters and several elected officials' responses dedicated to the exact same causes.

The following are the state and federal representatives from Pennsylvania who responded to the three letters.

COURT
REFORM

Decades of systemic issues have cast long shadows over the family courts. From gag orders to missing documents, the stories of injustice have been both chilling and persistent. With the specter of past scandals like "Kids for Cash" reminding us of the stakes, our advocacy for courtroom cameras and open hearings stands as a beacon for change. We challenge you to join us in championing reforms that illuminate these judicial processes, ensuring they serve the public with fairness and integrity.

ELECTION
INTEGRITY

At the heart of democracy lies the principle that elections must be "free and equal," a promise enshrined in the Pennsylvania Constitution yet seemingly sidelined by partisan interests. The exclusion of over a million Independent and Third Party voters from primary elections contradicts the very essence of democratic representation. As taxpayer-funded primaries continue, we urge you to consider legislation that embraces inclusivity, ensuring every Pennsylvanian's voice is heard.

IMMIGRATION
POLICY

With the nation grappling with an unprecedented border crisis, the need for robust, compassionate immigration reform has never been clearer. Reports of over 250,000 migrants being "processed" monthly signal a system at its breaking point. We seek your vision and solutions to navigate these complex issues, aiming to inform voters of your stance on reform that respects both our borders and humanity.

Congress Is Responsible for Immigration Reform

The Supreme Court's jurisprudence reflects that Congress retains broad power to regulate immigration and that the Court will accord substantial deference to the government's immigration policies, particularly those that implicate matters of national security.
